London FavoritesLondon is more amazing than I ever could have imagined. I have had the most eventful days sightseeing, learning, eating and hanging out with friends. I can’t believe this trip of a lifetime is almost over!
I have learned so much about the differences in the U.K. and U.S. for my project, while having a blast exploring London every single day. I could tell you about the wonderful places I’ve visited, as well as explain all of the delicious food I have eaten, but seeing it all will be more fun. Check out the slideshow I created for my favorite things from my Global Ad & PR trip to London. Hope you enjoy! Cheers!

London through the Eyes of an American TouristPhoto Credit: luvlondonasf.blogspot.com
Another video! Now that I have nearly four days left in London it’s time to reminisce on my favorite things so far.
It has been a wonderful experience being in London. I’ve shopped, toured, and got to be a nerd at the Harry Potter museum. What I will miss most is having great experiences with wonderful people and exploring London with my flatmates. What has stood out the most for me is the food; I never expected to try different things like pizza with goat cheese on it, Indian food, and delicious pastries. In Chicago there are unique and different restaurants, but it’s a different kind of experience when you are in another country. Exploring has been the highlight of my trip. So far I have only done a few things from my top ten video I created back in April, but I’ve still had a great time. It’s an exhilarating feeling when you don’t stick to a schedule and live in the moment. Never did I expect to have a picnic in Hyde Park or take pictures alongAbbey Road. I will want to come back to London because this is a huge city and there’s always more to see. It’s sad to think that I have less than a week in this wonderful city, there are so many things I’ve been able to do. If you don’t believe me, check out my video above! |

My Favorite Things About London, EnglandThere are many reasons why I adore London, so much so that I firmly believe that two weeks here won’t be nearly enough time to experience all of it. After my first week, I have stitched together a short video telling you why London will be so very difficult to leave on Friday morning.

Friends I've Made & Places I've BeenI can hardly fathom the thought that I’ve been in London for 12 days now! This city has grown on me more and more every day and I can honestly say I can see myself living here in the future. I find my list of reasons why I love London growing rapidly.
“Life is about the journeys you take and the people that take them with you” (Anonymous). Why Do I Love London?I have to say the main reason my love for this city is so strong is because I am spending my time here with 21 amazing people. I came into this trip only knowing a handful of my classmates but now I feel like this group has become a small family. My flat is full of life and laughter at all times; I couldn’t imagine traveling around London (and Paris) with anybody other than these people. From falling asleep on each other’s shoulders, to taking pictures of each other sleeping – my classmates have made this journey more than I ever imagined it would be.
We have traveled all over London together and even took a day trip to Paris, which leads me to another one of my favorite things. Aside from all of the beauty and sites in this city, I love how convenient is it to travel to different countries from London. So far, a few of my favorite sites areGreenwich, Abbey Road and Hyde Park. All of my journeys have been full excitement and many pictures – I put this short video together so you can see some of the highlights of my time abroad! Cheers! |

…InspiringI am not a world traveler. I do not hop on planes without some trepidation. And let’s just say I don’t have a body that makes getting there half the “fun.” But I don’t regret the 6-hour-plus flight that brought me to London or the 80 quid I had to pay for a taxi from the airport after I missed my first flight. It’s all been worth it.
Worth what you ask? Ah, well. It would take the better part of the week to tell it all. And I don’t think I even have the nuance of vocabulary to say exactly how inspiring this city is. It’s a place that demands its visitors to reflect on their growth and their place in time and space. It is grand and gritty. The city in some ways symbolizes my time as a graduate student at Kent State University, not just in the Global Advertising and Public Relations class, but the entire experience so far. At the highs, I have learned so much about media, myself and the world around me, and at the lows I have scratched and clawed my way through assignments that seemed beyond my capacity. Through it all, I’ve grown. So, here it is I put together a video presentation to show you just a few glimpses of London through my camera lens. Enjoy and tell me what you think. Oh, by the way, I used a little bit of British slang earlier: quid. It’s the same as pound in British currency. Wanna know more about Brit slang, go here.

At a Loss for WordsThe sights in London are simply indescribable. Trust me, any pictures you’ve seen do this city no justice. From the iconic scenes that everyone knows about to every little store sign and park bench, everything here seems picturesque. I’ve been snapping photos down every alley, up at every tall building and even across the tube stations. I’m no photographer, but what I’ve captured is Instagram gold. Had I only been able to roam the city just to see the sights, I’d have been perfectly content. I’m going to miss the wonderful view once I head home in four short days.

A few of my favorite things. There is so much to love about London. It is nearly impossible to choose just one. Every building, every brick has so much history to appreciate whether there’s rain or sun.
Whether it’s Big Ben, Parliament, the London Eye or Hyde Park, every part of this city seems to stand out. Telephone booths galore and the magic of Harry Potter are just a few of the gems that the U.K. has to offer. As we share these experiences and grow closer as a class, what I really love the most are the friendships that will last. |

Falling in love with LondonMy international family
Perhaps the greatest thing I’ve experienced on this journey is the friendship I’ve cultivated with my classmates as we’ve explored this city together. The photos and messages we’ve exchanged with one another as we’ve all worked to document our experiences illustrate an almost uncomfortable closeness we’ve established with one another. We’ve shared some very special moments together, and I’ve decided to share those moments with you.

These are a few of my favorite things...If I had to pick one favorite thing about this trip so far, it wouldn’t be Big Ben, or The Tower, or Madame Tussauds. It might be seeing Dame Judi Dench live onstage in the new play Peter and Alice. Yes, it might be that. It might be seeing The Royal Shakespeare Company perform A Midsummer Night’s Dream at the Globe or As You Like It in Stratford-On-Avon. It might be buying flowers from Patand her son David on Farringdon Road near our flats. It might be Robert and Dee and Jane from The Sock Mob. (continue reading...)

An Ode to the Sound of MusicRaindrops on roses? Whiskers on kittens? If you haven't seen The Sound of Music, I would highly recommend it, or at least go google "My Favorite Things" and listen to Maria sing one of my favorite songs of all time. If this assignment wasn't given to us to blog about for our class, I probably would have done so anyways. Putting a pen to paper -- or in this case type to screen, allows people to understand why you like things as much as you do. (continue reading...)
